Training | Orientation - September, see website ; Training is provided ; Scheduled training - One evening training session and 1 Saturday training session per month ; Training on-going ; LEVEL 1 - Basic Search Techniques Established in September of 1998, the Georgian Bay Volunteer Search and Rescue Team is one of 19 teams, registered with the Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association (OSARVA), operating in the Province of Ontario. Our training is not limited to the above certification level. The GBVSAR training program ensures that each member is ready and trained above and beyond the minimum certification level. Our trainers have included certified police, military, fire service and industrial instructors who provide the team with a broad variety of instruction related to Search and Rescue. As part of their membership obligation, each member of the GBVSAR must complete Level 1 of the OPP/OSARVA Basic Search and Rescue Certification program. |
