Thousands of people flock to the Wye Marsh every year for our Sweetwater Festival to enjoy the first harvest of the year.
Everyone has the chance to walk the trails, see different sap collecting systems, visit a modern day working sugar shack, taste fresh roasted bannock, and welcome the sights and sounds of spring.
As a Sweetwater Volunteer you may help with:
- Selling tickets
- Creating take-home craft kits
- Sharing our natural history onsite with visitors
Gardening Volunteers

Volunteers may assist with: watering and weeding, mulching the pathways, researching a variety of gardening practices or plant care information, composting/soil building, participate in group gardening activities, create and maintain garden structures such as display board or plant lattices, administration and fundraising.

Outside maintenance such as snow shoveling, lawn cutting, gardening, painting etc. Indoor maintenance would require cleaning inside the museum at the blacksmith shop, fire hall and concession stand.
The Georgian Good Food Box Packers and Drivers

Volunteer drivers assist with deliveries of food boxes to distribution sites (Collingwood, Clearview and Wasaga Beach) and/or individuals in the surrounding communities.
Volunteers help with packing fruits and vegetables for monthly good food box orders
Conservation Property Steward

Various mainland and island properties around eastern Georgian Bay and the North Channel.
Visit one of the Georgian Bay Land Trust's protected properties at least once a year, upload a simple reporting form on the property's condition, and conduct any minor stewardship activities necessary (ex. picking up litter, greeting visitors).
Good Food Box Volunteer
Orillia and Area Good Food Box, The

Volunteers are needed to pack Good Food Boxes the 3rd Tuesday of every month in the Church Hall at Guardian Angels Church, from 8 am to 10 am.
Volunteers are also needed from 10 am to 12 noon to assist individuals that are picking up their Good Food Boxes.

Emergency Overnight Shelter Volunteer

- Participate in the operation of the shelter (shifts - evening, night, breakfast)
- Carry out the many tasks required for the seamless functioning of the shift/program.
- Interact with guests throughout the duration of the shift (unless it’s quiet/sleep hours).

Assist with set-up and take-down of the weekly farmers' market - which includes signage, sandwich boards, sail banners, tables, chairs, benches, barricades, canopies and musical equipment, electrical cords, garbage and recycle receptacles.

Collect litter to ensure the Market grounds are clear of garbage and debris before and after the Market.
Assist with the organization of volunteers (some with mental or physical challenges)

Volunteers must wear certified safety shoes, be capable of lifting up to 25lbs, able to stand for extended periods of time and be comfortable with 2-3 step instruction.
