Description (Service) Free assistance for individuals unable to complete their income tax and benefit return themselves and are unable to pay for assistance. Volunteer can help complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple.  
Does not complete income tax and benefit returns for: bankrupt individuals * individuals who have capital gains or losses, employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses 
Will complete previous years and current year returns

Eligibility Open to seniors and people with disabilities. 
Suggested maximum income levels 
Single: Up to $30,000 
Couple: Up to $40,000 
One adult with child: Up to $35,000 * $2500 for additional dependent 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: 
* individuals who file for bankruptcy; 
* self-employed individuals; 
* individuals who report capital gains or losses; or 
* individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and 
Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include 
* Aboriginal peoples; 
* Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients; 
* Newcomers to Canada; 
* Seniors; and 
* Students
