Description (Service) Free assistance for individuals unable to complete their income tax and benefit return themselves and are unable to pay for assistance. Volunteer can help complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple.

Eligibility Suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only. 
  • Single: Up to $35,000 
  • Couple: Up to $45,000 
  • One adult with child: Up to $35,000  
  • $2500 for additional dependent
 
 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: 
  • returns for deceased persons 
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy 
  • self-employed individuals 
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses 
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and 
    expenses
 
 
Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include 
  • Indigenous peoples 
  • Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients 
  • Newcomers to Canada 
  • Seniors 
  • Students
Application Call and leave name and phone number. Volunteer will follow up and do return over the phone. Once completed, the volunteer will submit the return online. The volunteer will send a copy of the completed return to the Beaver Valley Office. When it arrives, Catherine will contact the individual to arrange pick up. On pickup, the individual will sign off on the completed work.
