Description (Service) | COVID-19 Response The eligibility criteria for LEAP has been temporarily changed for 2021. The following are guidelines that agencies should consider in screening applications:
COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP): for eligible residential electricity, natural gas and unit sub-meter provider (USMPs) customers who are having difficulty paying their utility bills due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Residential customers may be eligible for up to $750 in support towards their electricity and natural gas bills, and can apply for on-bill credits for both electricity and natural gas separately. Customers who applied and received CEAP support prior to January 14, 2021 may apply again to be considered for the increased funding amount. You must apply for CEAP through your utility or USMP. Contact your utility or USMP directly as each may have a unique approach for application in-take. Customers will be credited on their utility account. More information and application forms can be found at https://www.oeb.ca/rates-and-your-bill/covid-19-energy-assistance-programs/covid-19-energy-assistance-program For complete details and eligibility, contact your utility provider. Regular Service Note: As a disconnection ban is in place, the Westario Power Low-Income Energy Assistance Program is not taking applications for LEAP funds until May 2021 when disconnection notices will be sent out. Westario Power customers can get up to $500 in emergency assistance for their electricity bills ($600 if home is heated electrically). Assistance is only available if behind on bill, or in arrears and may be at risk of having service shut off (disconnected). Assistance is for emergency situations only and is not meant to provide ongoing help to pay bills. Cannot receive more money than you owe on your bill.
