Comments

Information session is mandatory to find out what is involved with being a tutor to another adult. If you decide to become a tutor, Tutor training workshop (about 15 hours) prepares you before being matched with an adult student. Ongoing assistance from staff is provided once you start.

In 2024, the first Information Session is scheduled for January 16, 7-8:30 pm, over ZOOM.

This is followed by a Tutor Training Workshop from February 6 - March 12, 7-8:30 pm (on Tuesdays) over ZOOM.

There are other Information Sessions and Tutor Training Workshops in the Spring and Fall. Please call if interested in one of these.

Duties

Volunteer tutors are needed to help adults to improve their reading, writing, math and digital skills.

NOTE: We ask potential tutors to commit for one year so that they can come alongside a student for that length of time - once students make the decision to improve their skills, they need a tutor who is willing to work with them to increase not only their knowledge but their confidence and self esteem.
