Description (Service) Ontario Works Financial Assistance - monthly allowance based on family size, housing costs and income, monthly drug benefit card, special diet allowance, medical transportation and other services such as 
Employment Benefit – helps with costs related to starting a job or work placement, looking for work 
Sustainable Housing Benefit (SHB) - assists low income residents including seniors, OW and ODSP recipients with rent or mortgage, utility, energy and heat arrears; staff assist community members in housing searches, provides tenant and landlord education, tenant and landlord mediation, referrals to other community services on homelessness and affordable housing issues - Application Form 
Families with Children - child care start-up costs, basic dental care for children, eyeglasses for children 
Ontario Works Employment Activities - volunteer placements, job search programs - based on individual’s skills, experience and circumstances, employment placement - job matching service, basic education - basic adult upgrading; high school upgrading; English as a Second Language (ESL) classes; literacy and basic skills; job skills training - development of skills for specific jobs; on-the-job training; supports to self-employment - referrals to self-employment programs  
Learning, Earning and Parenting (LEAP) -- helps young parents (up to 25 years of age) finish high school, improve parenting skills, locate and maintain employment * for Grey County residents - Temporary care program for children with no available parent 
Other Services:  
Discretionary Benefits – may include dentures, adult emergency dental services, adult eyeglasses, health care supplies, prosthetic devices, to those in receipt of Ontario Works or ODSP; assistance with funerals and burials may also be available 
Transportation Program - shuttle service provided for Grey County OW clients who need transportation to attend any employment related activity, including anything needed to gain employment or employment skills; if one has a need to utilize the transportation service, discuss with case worker to make arrangements 
Interactive Voice Response (IVR) 1-800-808-2268 - automated information and payment details, payment history, file status; information and announcements about Ontario Works; service not available to TTY users 
Welfare Fraud Hotline 1-800-394-7867 -- to report allegations of fraudulent collection of Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program assistance
