The program provides children and families with Indigenous cultural teachings and knowledge; traditional songs, dancing, and drumming will incorporate language and movement into the child's learning experience. The goal is to ensure that all EarlyON Child and Family Centres and licensed child care centres within Northumberland County deliver on-going cultural-based programs.

Program Objectives

  • To promote cultural awareness while fostering healing and reconciliation for urban Indigenous and non-Indigenous children, youth and families.
  • To plan and implement culture-based programs in collaboration with Elders, Traditional People and Knowledge Keepers.
  • To celebrate Indigenous culture through community events.
